CAD visualizations

We are the expert for CAD services for your plant and equipment.

Are you looking for CAD services in the fields of machinery and equipment, automation and measurement or the automotive industry? Our CAD drawing office implements the planning and visualization of your plant and equipment in an uncomplicated way and according to your ideas. Thanks to our many years of experience in the field of CAD services, we will find the optimal solution for the visualization of your project.

What is CAD?

The abbreviation CAD stands for “computer-aided design.” It enables the digital implementation of individual steps in the design process with the help of CAD software. Specifically, we create 2D drawings or convert your existing two-dimensional drawings into 3D models for you.

Visualization in a 3D layout planning plan

On the basis of your data, our drawing office creates the appropriate 3D modeling in MicroStation, the standard program used by all automobile manufacturers for 3D layout planning. We take care of both the CAD data conversion from your software and the representation of your plant and equipment according to customer-specific specifications. On request, we also convert complex design objects into lean data ideal for your factory planning.

It is particularly important to us to take all your wishes into account. No matter if you want a 3D as-built survey of the entire factory, a 2D or 3D modeling of layout, lifts or materials handling systems or an animated visualization – our experts will take care of it.

Consistent quality of CAD data

The highest quality in implementation is an absolute priority for our CAD drawing office. This is ensured by our internal control mechanisms. In addition, we take care of forwarding your data to the relevant department. Common formats are, e.g., DGN, DXF, DWG, Step, Parasolid, IGES, JT, NX (PRT) or CATIA V4+V5 (CATProduct, CATPart).

CAD consulting: the right service for your project

Through years of working with various industrial service providers, our experts have extensive knowledge of the various CAD programs and CAD software. This allows Leadec to work with your chosen system without any problems. We help to integrate your design data for the automotive industry according to their CAD specifications. Our staff will specifically adapt to your software and the project at hand.

Planning and design: your idea takes shape

With the help of a CAD model, optimizations of the existing plant and machines can be planned and tested virtually. It works in both directions. The CAD model can act as a basis for optimization or our experts design the 3D or 2D CAD model based on the received sketches, on which the implementation of the project can be subsequently based.

In addition, we also carry out revisions of existing models or a detailed design based on your draft. Our CAD portfolio also includes animation and rendering of the models. Furthermore, we are available in an advisory capacity in the following areas:

Example of planning project steps

  • Greenfield planning (MicroStation software): Planning without existing property boundary (greenfield). This describes the ideal situation before the construction of a new production facility. The land on which the new building is to be erected has not yet been built on.
  • Brownfield (MicroStation software): Planning with existing property line and possibly existing building/factory. A brownfield is thus an area of land that has already been built on.
  • Rough planning (MicroStation software): Rough planning describes the consideration of the overall planning including assembly and logistics processes. It is the first step of top-down planning and in this phase milestones, the project budget as well as the object, target and result are specified.
  • Detailed planning (MicroStation software): Detailed planning concerns the elaboration of the rough planning with regard to process optimization. It defines which resources are assigned to the individual production orders and determines the order sequence (detailed scheduling).
  • Tenders (Office software): Tenders concern the creation of specifications for suppliers. Here, the requirements of the customers for the suppliers are defined and documented.
  • Request for proposal: This involves reviewing the offers and checking them for plausibility. It is checked whether the supplier can meet the requirements of the fulfillment matrix, question list or price sheet template.
  • Order process: During the ordering process, the order is released for ordering. This includes all services and materials related to planning.
  • Design (Inventor software, etc.): Design concerns the creation of the stations relevant to the project and the framework on which the following steps are based.
  • CAD modeling (MicroStation + Tricad software): CAD modeling refers to the simplified model creation, i.e., the shell model for the current planning. These models are used, among other things, for plant and equipment collision checks in order to prevent later potential sources of error already during planning.
  • Procurement of the necessary parts/elements relevant to the project: This step focuses on and takes into account the areas of labor, capital, services and rights, as well as external information.
  • Coordination of machine and equipment set-up in the factory: The next step is the coordination of the machine and equipment set-up in the factory. This check is necessary in order to ideally coordinate the individual elements and enable seamless processes.
  • Project completion/project acceptance by customer: Finally, the project is accepted, checked and applied by the customer. The customer tests and evaluates the results for quality, deadlines and costs. Only when the customer confirms the project acceptance in writing, the project is finished and invoiced.

CAD re-engineering: capturing everything retroactively

Even if the right 3D model for the existing components or machines is missing, Leadec has the right solution at hand. We take the dimensions of the existing plant and machinery and develop a 3D CAD model from them, which can be used in further planning. This can then be used for integration into other models for collision checking. In addition, these data can be used for extension, (static) simulation or planning.

Our services include:

  • Measuring on site/on-site surveys at the customer’s premises
  • 3D modeling/model creation from point clouds
  • Simplified model creation (shell model) from existing design data

No matter which way you want to go, we will be happy to accompany you!

We use the following software

MicroStation

MicroStation can be used to create 2D and 3D vector objects and elements, among many other things. For this purpose, there are numerous extensions to the software that can complement the portfolio in the appropriate area.

Tricad

Tricad’s software tool is based on the MicroStation application. The special feature is that Tricad is the only CAD/CAE planning tool that offers specific modules (heating, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, sprinkler, plant engineering, layout, etc.) for all building services disciplines.

Inventor

The special feature of this program is that the drawings are associatively linked to the models. This means that with all changes to the 3D models, the 2D drawings are also automatically updated.

AutoCAD

AutoCAD started in 1982 as a program for the implementation of technical drawings. Today, the product range includes extensive 3D functions including special extensions for engineers, architects, design professionals and much more.
